Performance Elastomers Corporation quality control program is built on years of experience meeting ever tightening performance demands. We respond to, and even drive, these demands based on real world failure analysis. Product design changes can create more punishing operating environments and increased failure risk. Our pro-active review of these changes enhances your quality assurance program by altering specifications in accord with the new operating environment.

Our operators continuously verify our organic and silicone rubber extrusions for Durometer and check dimensions using calipers and go/no-go gauges. Of course, the workhorse of the industry is the optical comparator. We use comparators for every step of our operations – from reverse engineering, through die check, to sample and production run testing.

Some applications may require chemical and physical chemistry tests, such as tests for resistance to salt spray, staining, and degradation under UV exposure. It is not uncommon for our customers to also provide us with product components for final fit testing.
What about ISO/QS/AS?

We didn’t simply address those areas where we felt we might be weak; we took the time to analyze everything that has made us vigorous and strong – and incorporated those strengths into corporate wide processes.

Performance Elastomers can and will comply with the needs of OEMs with ISO/QS/AS registration. We understand the necessity for rigorous delineation of procedure, an exacting checklist, and the attendant documentation.

Further, we allow market seasoning to guide and consolidate the learning curve in new product development. This helps customers hit market windows with well-designed and dependable products when the opportunities are just beginning to open.

We meet or exceed the standards of the following organizations: ASTM, SAE, JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) and Mil-Spec.

More rigorous testing proceeds in our QC lab, where our lab staff can dedicate their attention to more detailed quality analysis and documentation. These are usually tests for compression load deflection, compression set, and tensile (pull) strength.
Performance Elastomers received ISO 9001:2000 registration in March 2004 after a long and careful program initiated in March of 2002. Our objective was to not only attain registration, but to fully exploit the manufacturing philosophy inherent in the program.
