Performance Elastomers produces shaker screen gasket in both industrial and food grade rubber. In sieving for grain size of foundry sands or flour and sugar, there is a gasket between the screen and the frame. The constant agitation of granules requires a high degree of abrasion resistance. The force on the screen requires the strength to maintain integrity against both compression pressure from the clamp and tension from the screen (left). Performance Elastomers makes vacuum seals for a newly viable technology to hold flitches (half logs) against the slicer table in veneering operations. This produces backing boards that are appreciably thinner, resulting in greater yield from each flitch. We extrude a rubber with the pliability to form an unyielding vacuum seal and the strength that withstands high shear forces and abrasion. |

Factory automation robotics has created new applications for our extrusions. Performance Elastomers manufactures the rubber pads (right) used to pick up bricks from curing ovens. Heat, compressibility, and abrasion resistance specs must be met to maintain high production rates. We also have to recognize that some component depreciation will occur, and project an accurate schedule for planned maintenance and replacement. |
