AUTOMOTIVE
and TRANSPORTATION
A variety of OEM and aftermarket
applications
Automotive restoration is
an emotion-laden business. The window gasket used to restore a ’58 Corvette
(shown on the left) must be of the original compound and extruded as
near to perfection as possible. Our employees know the importance of
extruding every inch of the 50,000 to 100,000 foot run with an exaction
that "stands the test of love".
Performance Elastomers Corporation serves transportation and automotive
markets with organic and silicone rubber meeting a variety of OEM and
aftermarket specifications. RV’s are just one example.
We also provide glass run and other marine trim
gaskets. Our gaskets protect against vibration and provide a seal against
the elements.
OEM Automotive
Applications
Automotive applications
can be particularly grueling because of the many factors that can
affect the rubber: temperature extremes from sub-zero weather to
engine block heat; oxidation/reduction chemistry from salt, ozone,
sulfides and NOx; exposure to organics like oil, gasoline, transmission,
coolant and brake fluids. |

OEM
products include:
• Gaskets for
gas tank straps (below left). These form a vibration and chemical
barrier between the metal strap and the gas tank.
• Sponge and dense
tubing (above right) channel and protect cable and wire running
from the power supply to the distributor and engine block; and
along the undercarriage. |

Aftermarket Applications
Automotive aftermarket products can be every
bit as exacting as OEM products. We make the weather-stripping for the
windows, doors, and trunks of high-end classic cars. |
